GKE 68 turned 75 this summer - another opportunity to draw attention to the project. Members and visitors turned up at Chatham's former Town Hall on 27th September to mingle and hear the latest news. A strange birthday celebration, perhaps, when the subject was undergoing major surgery in a shed 40-odd miles away, but it was a jolly occasion nonetheless.
We were very honoured to welcome the Mayor and Mayoress of Medway, Councillor Barry Kemp and his wife Joyce. They stayed a goodly while and showed much interest. After a few words of support the Mayor cut the birthday cake, which had been made by our Karen's friend Karen Green.
The combined proceeds of the associated raffle plus some donations and miscellaneous sales on the day brought us £911! Not a bad day's work, although more like a couple of months' work by Wendy and Karen. The list of winners will be announced when all the prizes have been distributed.
Overall a successful event, with around 40 people attending including a couple of new members. Thanks to all.
